IAU Shaw: Astronomy is Universal—The Gateway Topic
One of the themes of this year’s conference was that astronomy is more than just a science course, it is also a way to provide an educational framework for other subjects. You don’t have to just teach about constellations or exoplanets, you can teach something else that connects with them.
In this Deeper Looks column, there will be a (ahem) galaxy of reports of using astronomy topics as a gateway to teaching something else as well.
